A distinctive mid-century writing desk designed by British designer Robin Day in the 1950s. Robin Day developed an extensive collection of furniture designs for Hille during the 1950s, including desks and storage furniture, with an emphasis on simple, functional forms and clearly articulated structures.
The desk features a rectangular wooden writing surface supported by four slender, slightly angled legs. A compact drawer unit is positioned beneath one side of the tabletop, providing practical storage while maintaining the desk's clean and functional appearance. The contrasting drawer fronts add visual interest to the warm-toned wooden structure.
The restrained proportions, tapered legs, clean rectangular tabletop, and integrated storage reflect the functionalist character of British mid-century furniture associated with Robin Day's work.
The desk is suitable as a writing desk, home office desk, study desk, or statement piece for a mid-century-inspired interior.
