This elegant dining ensemble — a large round table accompanied by classic bentwood chairs — exemplifies the craftsmanship and design innovation of Gebrüder Thonet and J. & J. Kohn, two of the most influential furniture manufacturers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Dating from around 1900–1930, the set represents the transition from late Secessionist style to early Functionalism. The chairs correspond to model no. 14 or no. 18, the iconic “bistro” design made of bent beechwood with woven cane seats, while the table features a veneered plywood top on a sculptural bentwood base.
The set remains in very good vintage condition, structurally stable with light wear consistent with age. This ensemble captures the timeless charm and historical significance of Central European café culture.
