Vintage Czech Dining Table by Jindřich Halabala – Expandable, 1940s Mid-Century
This mid-century extendable dining table designed by Jindřich Halabala is a stunning example of Czechoslovak modernist furniture from the 1940s–1950s. It features a beautifully executed checkerboard veneer top, a hallmark of Halabala’s refined sense of form and function.
Crafted from solid wood and veneer, the table stands on tapered legs and includes an expandable center leaf, allowing it to transition from a compact shape to a spacious surface suitable for gatherings of 6 to 8 people.
The table has undergone a complete professional renovation – the finish has been expertly restored, the extending mechanism functions smoothly, and the structure is solid and stable. It remains in very good condition, showing only minimal signs of age and light, age-appropriate patina.
