Anatomical Torso Model, Half Muscle Half Skin, Attributed to Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden, East Germany 1950s–60s
Vintage anatomical torso model with removable internal organs, showing the musculature on one half and the skin on the other. Made in the German Democratic Republic and attributed to the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden (GDR label present), c. 1950s–1960s, as a school and medical teaching aid.
Hand-painted composition material (plaster-based) on a metal base. The model retains its original hand-painted finish with fine anatomical detailing; the removable organs are complete and fit precisely into the torso. A striking example of post-war East German scientific modelling, equally at home in a study, a surgery or a collector's cabinet.
