Pair of Armchairs No. 752 by Josef Frank for Thonet, 1930s, Vintage Bentwood Modernist Seating

Pair of legendary bentwood armchairs Model No. 752, designed in 1933 by Josef Frank for Thonet. These iconic pieces represent the refined elegance and technical mastery of early modern European furniture design.

Model No. 752 is celebrated for its harmonious curved silhouette, combining bentwood structural elements with molded plywood panels. The design achieves both visual lightness and structural strength, reflecting Josef Frank’s humanistic approach to modernism—comfort, proportion, and organic flow balanced within a rational framework.

Crafted from bentwood and plywood, the armchairs maintain their sculptural integrity and comfort. The proportions are generous yet balanced, making them suitable as statement lounge chairs in both modern and classic interiors.

The pair is in very good condition relative to age. The chairs have been carefully cleaned and gently restored while preserving the beautiful original age patina. The construction is solid and stable, with minor signs of use consistent with 1930s production.
