A note on attribution — please read
We acquired this piece from a dealer in England, and it came to us attributed to the Wilhelm Schiller & Söhne workshop (Bodenbach / Děčín, active under that name 1885–1914). Pieces from that workshop are normally identified by an impressed WS&S mark. This figure is marked, and the mark is photographed here, but it is worn and cannot be read with confidence.
We therefore cannot confirm the maker or the period ourselves. The attribution is what we were told when we bought it, not something we have verified. We would rather say that plainly than sell you a name we cannot stand behind. We are happy to send high-resolution photographs of the mark, the base and the underside to anyone who would like their own specialist to look at it before buying.

The piece itself: an unusually large figure at 80 cm, finely modelled and hand-painted, in undamaged condition, which at this size is rare.
